Product Description & Reviews
Spontaneously painting the dyes free-hand and skillfully manipulating their bleeds and edges as they merge with the silk, Ulrike achieves uniquely soft, multi-shaded images in which, unlike printed silk, colors are equally rich on both sides of the scarf ... All edges are hand-rolled and hand-sewn. Depending on the technique of the seamstress, the nominal dimensions stated can vary up to an inch in either direction, particularly in the chiffons, but these slight variations are of little or no consequence to wearing the scarf ... Since the colors of hand-painted silk merge into the fabric when set with steam, these scarves can be washed by hand in lukewarm water with a non-detergent soap like a baby shampoo or such. Rinse, roll in a bath towel, squeeze out excess water, and iron out with a steam iron on a medium high setting ... Even without using soap, ironing out a dampened scarf in this way will restore a wrinkled scarf to its original muted sheen.
